This evening I went to the Natural England reception in Parliament where I had a good conversation with their Chief Operating Officer Oliver Harmar about their role in protecting nature and our environment.
We discussed the potential of nature based solutions for flood control and improving water quality and the need for bravery from the new government, particularly given its financial constraints.
Nature needs us to be brave, and we all need a healthy, thriving natural environment for our own wellbeing and that of our planet.
Also good to catch up with Kevin Bishop, CEO of Dartmoor National Park Authority - waiting to hear the result of the Darwall case in the High Court on wild camping. Before the election Labour said if the case was lost they would legislate to protect the right to wild camp. I sincerely hope that is a pledge they will honour if need be.
