I know how many of you are concerned about the streetlights being out on Bakers Hill and at the bottom of Vicarage Road, Brixham.
That’s why, recently, I contacted National Grid for an update on what was happening with these streetlights and when we can expect the issues they are facing to be resolved.
Here is their reply:
“I’ve spoken with our local head of operations and he told me that the local team have replaced a number of fuses on The Close last week. Colleagues have attended site and replaced a number of fuses which feed these streetlights. This should have resolved the lighting issues in the road and I’m pleased to say that we have not had any further reports of outages from the council.
“The other faults on Holborn Road, Higher Furzeham Road, Bakers Hill, Vicarage Road, Queens Road are being looked into as a priority. The team have been out to investigate and it seems there’s a few different issues at play that requiring different fixes. But please be assured they’re treating these as a priority and I’ll write to you with a further update as they are resolved.
“In relation to concerns about elderly residents possibly, we have not had any contact from customers as yet. Please do encourage anyone that has been affected to contact the head of operations Lewis Smith 07549 212250 so we can address any concerns and make sure we’re able to provide extra support, like our Priority Services Register, where appropriate.
“Once again, please pass on our apologies for any inconvenience caused to your constituents. We are working to rectify outstanding issues as a priority and please do encourage your constituents to contact Lewis directly with any specific concerns, questions or requests for extra support.”
I would urge anyone who has been affected by fault with these streetlights to contact the number they shared.
