Today in Parliament I asked the Environment Minister Steve Reed when the residents of Kingsbridge can expect to see some resolution to the flooding problems that have seen sewage seeping out of the drains into the streets.
While I welcome the Water Commission which will investigate the water industry, this review will not bring an end to the misery of sewage in the streets.
We need urgent action and a commitment to invest the money required to repair failing infrastructure here and across the country.
We must also move away from a model that prioritises shareholder dividends over environmental investment.
