The TV show Adolescence has once again shone a light on the terrible and dangerous impact smartphones and social media can have on our children.
Today, I sat down with ITV West Country, where I again reiterated my calls for more legislation to tackle this issue.
I was pleased to hear that the Prime Minister met with the series makers at Downing Street this week and announced that the show will be shown in secondary schools across the UK.
Educating both children and parents about the risks of social media is vital.
I also hope that after seeing the series the Prime Minister and his Government will re-examine some of the measures they worked so hard to remove from the Safer Phones Bill, which I co-sponsored and which originally called for making schools mobile-free zones.
